Santa Is Alive and Well

Santa Is Alive and Well
We see him in the acts of kindness, both random and planned. From him we learn that making others happy has rewards that are immeasurable.

So There U Have It

The last and final Act of a Three Act Play
is shaping up as a hopefully long and healthy one.
It is oh so different from Acts l and ll.

Act l was exciting.
Discovering how to live, love and 'do'
involved education,
both formal and otherwise.
Intertwined in this came the relationships
that influenced decision making and the outcomes,
both vocational and avocational
we now can look back upon.
At times it was breathtaking!

The Second Act largely focused on
the 'doing' phase of life'.
At times it was spellbinding.
Other times frightening
and on occasion, disappointing.
I can't speak for the audience,
but by and large
the reviews seemed positive.

The Third and final Act is live theater at it's best
as the actions of l & ll
strongly influence
the 'real- time' action, the 'now.'

Fatalists maintain that Acts l & ll predetermine the Final Act.

I know this to be true at some level,
(we can't rewrite the history of our lives,)
but join me at 'tweaking the outcomes.'

The first section of The Third Act
has surpassed my expectations.
The plan is to maintain the pace.

So There U Have It
is an opportunity for you
to participate
in the writing of the Final Act.
I invite you to contribute
your observations, wit and wisdom
in the Comments section.

We know how it will end,
we just don't know
what awaits along the way.
Join me on the journey!

Exercising for endurance

"There's something wrong with this picture."
Well that was me yesterday. Events transpired against me. I had scheduled 9:00 am to 11:00 to be at the gym. It was the old "good intentions and $1.40 will get you a coffee at Timmy's." However I got some nagging errands done and unexpectedly got to spend time with people important to me. It doesn't get any better than a gelato with grandkids. And there were four of them. That was good!

You may recall reading elsewhere that this whole exercising, eating right, etc. thing was forced upon me by Dr. Berti and her suggestion that I read Younger Next Year and take it to heart.

Finally at mid evening I left for White Oaks. Upon opening my sports bag I discovered that my shoes were still at home. I dutifully drove back, picked up my shoes and went back. There, I admitted it. That in itself should make me feel better. This stuff happens when you're 67.

Encouraging me to get there was my inevitable reward, 15 minutes in the Steam Room at the end of those hurting circuits laid out for me by my personal tormentor/trainer. And, it turns out, the Steam Room was in fact worth it all! I sometimes think that the reason I put myself through the hurt of the circuits is to experience the reward of the Steam Room. The price I paid was missing Jon Stewart. Oh well, I guess I'll never know what little gems I missed. No I won't go to his web site to belatedly watch it.

  1. I use the steam room as my "dangling carrot" too! Sometimes its the only thing that gets me to go at all! And as for missing Jon... I feel for you. He's "da man"! : )

  2. Thanks for the comment Shelly. Yeah, Jon and Stephen are a reminder at the end of the day, not too take ourselves and others too seriously.
