Santa Is Alive and Well

Santa Is Alive and Well
We see him in the acts of kindness, both random and planned. From him we learn that making others happy has rewards that are immeasurable.

So There U Have It

The last and final Act of a Three Act Play
is shaping up as a hopefully long and healthy one.
It is oh so different from Acts l and ll.

Act l was exciting.
Discovering how to live, love and 'do'
involved education,
both formal and otherwise.
Intertwined in this came the relationships
that influenced decision making and the outcomes,
both vocational and avocational
we now can look back upon.
At times it was breathtaking!

The Second Act largely focused on
the 'doing' phase of life'.
At times it was spellbinding.
Other times frightening
and on occasion, disappointing.
I can't speak for the audience,
but by and large
the reviews seemed positive.

The Third and final Act is live theater at it's best
as the actions of l & ll
strongly influence
the 'real- time' action, the 'now.'

Fatalists maintain that Acts l & ll predetermine the Final Act.

I know this to be true at some level,
(we can't rewrite the history of our lives,)
but join me at 'tweaking the outcomes.'

The first section of The Third Act
has surpassed my expectations.
The plan is to maintain the pace.

So There U Have It
is an opportunity for you
to participate
in the writing of the Final Act.
I invite you to contribute
your observations, wit and wisdom
in the Comments section.

We know how it will end,
we just don't know
what awaits along the way.
Join me on the journey!

Not a Resolution

Well, there U Have it!
Another year gone,
Another decade has disappeared.

In the past year I have come
To know my self
And my family even more
By camping, chatting, debating, playing
And dining alongside each of them.

One such ongoing encounter
Was with GSM, (that would be Mitch)
Who helped me to see
My personal Higher Power.

Another year and another decade
I wonder what'll be different,
What'll be better
And what'll be . . . ,
Oops let's keep this on the side of positivity!
What'll be new.

As the Resident Philosopher of this blog
I note that:

This year past has been interesting
And in some ways, really brilliant.
Personally I learned to listen to my body,
And while so doing, watched it
Get stronger, smaller and feel better.

That is until late Fall
When I got side-tracked,
Fortunately I have recently begun listening again.
It's amazing how quickly my body
Responds to lack of care.
A few pounds, some aching muscles
Are quick to appear .

And conversely, how quickly
It reacts to exercise, rest and good eating.

Of course, this is old stuff to many,
The bookshelves are lined with
Information that is common knowledge.

I've learned that, like a good friendship,
It needs to be a dynamic relationship.
Sometimes low key,
Sometimes dynamic,
But always,
Ready to listen and 'to be there.'

A part of this awareness has come
From my knowledge that
In only seven weeks
SILH and I will be strapping
Fifty pounds on our backs
And descending the Grand Canyon
Ending up at Monument Creek.

There are definitely things
About my body
That need to change between now and then.

  1. Wow -it's coming up soon. I hadn't thought about it as in "only 7 weeks". Nice post. And we too have enjoyed all those discussions and sharing of meals : )
